CoolCroco does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

Your photos

CoolCroco reads only the files and folders you choose to open. Images are decoded on your computer so they can be displayed. They are never uploaded, copied off your device or shared with anyone.

Photo metadata (EXIF), which can include camera details, date and location, is read so it can be shown in the properties window and so the EXIF removal feature can strip it. This all happens on your computer.

What is stored on your computer

• Your settings — keyboard shortcuts, EXIF preferences and your chosen external editor — in a settings file in your user folder.
• Error and crash logs, written locally so a problem can be diagnosed. They are only ever seen by anyone else if you choose to send them.
• Star ratings, saved as XMP sidecar files next to your photos, and EXIF backups saved next to a photo you strip.

None of this is sent anywhere. Removing the app, or deleting those files, removes it.

Network connections

The Microsoft Store version of CoolCroco makes no network connections at all; it is updated by the Store.

The version downloaded from this website checks GitHub once at startup to see whether a newer release exists. That request contains no personal information, though GitHub — like any website — can see the IP address it came from. You can turn the check off in the menu, under “Check for updates on startup”.

Links inside the app, such as the website and support links, open in your own browser. Nothing else connects to the internet.

Third parties and children

CoolCroco contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking libraries, and no data is sold or shared, because none is collected. Since nothing is collected from anyone, nothing is collected from children either.
